Scrounging up work history points!

Hi,

As I cannot apply for PR under my current job classification (1244) where I have been working for over 4 years I noticed I can apply under the social work stream. HOWEVER, here are my questions:

Is the 10 year work experience cut off counted from the month or the year? e.g. I did some social work in January 2000 for example. Does it have to be from the month I fill out my PR or any time in that year?

I actually started and undertook my main work in the welfare area in 1999. Is it worth putting this in as well?

Re the points if I can scrounge up the 1 year experience in the social work NOC simply to make me eligible to apply, can I still get the maximum points (4 years and over) taking into account my current work even if it is not in the required NOC list at the moment? I did not work in the social work field for more than 4 years and as I am single and relying on my own point accumulation I need the maximum employment points to be eligible to apply for PR.

Help appreciated :'(

You must provide documentation to prove you have at least one year, full time or equivalent part time in one of the NOC 29 occupations. You can make up the other three years to get your maximum points as long as that work was in an occupation that falls into any A,B or O category. I do not know if there is a reference (expect there is one) regarding the 10 year period, but I would think it would be by the month. If you applied in November 2010, the ten years would run from December 2000. What do Seniors say?? Good Luck, hope it works.
