Hi All

I need a suggestion from experienced people.
I am an B.Tech+MBA from India.
I graduated in 2007 in Mechanical Engineering and worked for around 4 years in Engineering company as Material Controller/Material Management (not material engineer)
I went for my MBA in 2011 and landed in a bank in 2013. In 2014, I shifted to Management consulting in 2014 and continuing there.

My query is when I will create my profile for Canada Immigration, should I create using my engineering experience (4 years) or Management consulting exp (1.5 years). Engineering profile gives me 473 score while the one fetches me 448. Obviously my chances with 473 is better than 448.

I am asking this in concern that if I create my profile with engineering profile, will I be allowed to work in engineering field only while I land in Canada or I can work in Management consulting? My preference is to work in Management consulting profile.

Looking forward to response from experienced people.

Regards

Choose the one that gives you a better chance at ITA.

Whatever you decide to do in Canada does not have any thing, whatsoever, to do with the profession you chose during your immigration process.

Why would that make a difference for your CRS points?

For FSW, you can count all your work experience in the last 10 years and include it in your profile as long as it's in NOC classes 0, A or B.

Just make sure that you have at least one full year (52 weeks) of full time work experience in the NOC code that you choose as your primary occupation.

Practically, you get the most CRS points for 3 years or more, and the most FSW points for 6 years or more.

Determine how many years you need to include for FSW points so that you still hit the 67 points target. The greater of this number and three years should be included in your profile.

I would recommend not to include jobs that go beyond this requirement because there is no benefit to you, yet you will still need to obtain reference letters for these jobs if you include them.

PR is not conditional upon whatever your specify in your application, so you can work in any job (unless it requires a certification, which you would need to obtain first).

Hi Dexmoody

I am not aware about FSW program. Is it different from Express Entry program?

I have a total of more than 6.5 years of full time professional experience. And why I asked about which experience to show is because it's in different industries as below:
2007 to 2011 (4 years) - As material controller/manager in an EPC firm (Engineering role)
2013 to 2014 (1 year and 3 months) - As Bank Manager (in Finance role)
2014 to present (1 years and 6 months) - As management consultant (in Business consulting role such as in BCG, Mckinsey)

And while I was calculating my CRS score, it said that your professional experience must have been continuous, paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation.

So my concern was which experience should I show to get ITA. Engineering seems to fetch me the maximum score, but I don't want to work there as Engineer and would like to find a job in Management consulting industry only.

Hope it further clarifies my question.

I understood your question, but it seems you don't have a good understanding of Express Entry yet.

EE is only a way of selecting candidates. To qualify for EE, you must meet the requirements of at least one immigration program. Unless you have Canadian work experience, in your case this is most likely the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW).

Read about its criteria here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

Then come back here and read my response above again

Hopefully it will make sense then.
