Hi everyone!!!
I am quite new to this site but expect a help in massive way through helpful active and Canadian experienced Members.

I am a 24 years old Male from Mumbai India,

Recently did my Post Graduation in Hospitality management in The UK and also had 18 months of Full time work experience in one of the most prestigious Hotel bang opposite the Buckingham Palace.
Also worked in India for 2 years Full time with ACCOR group , Along with that My father has his own restaurant In Mumbai does decent business with stable turnover.

My concerns are as follows.and Advice and feed back will only help me to make or break my Life!!

Having a established business of over 26 years enough to support family of 5+ although mine is only 3 with limited liabilities back home in India.
But since i have lived in the UK for 2 years it has changed my mindset as I strongly believe that western countries offer you best quality and Value for life so It dosnt matter if you are Rich/ Poor quality of life sucks back home!! Sad But Fact.... :'(

is it advisable to ignore established business /Restaurant back home and come as a student to Canada?
As my passion is Wines and Bar , will i get a Job as a bartender?
Whats the pay? Tips is any?
Will a employee help me in getting a PR in Ontario/BC?? Not to keen with other province
How easy will it be to start and Indian restaurant In Canada?

Thanks and Regards!!!!

Hi,

All i can say is don't expect help from people who are already in Canada. Yes opening a Indian restaurant is eazy and money minting business in Canada. You should have to be well experienced and shouldn't depend on employees for your business you should yourself must know cooking and in-out of restaurant business.

That is quite true anywhere in the world no matter where you are it is the same scenario where success lies in helping oneself !!
but before even setting up my restaurant I would love to get Canadian work experience as of now I am handling my Fathers restaurant In Mumbai India here too Labor related problems are quite serious so I know my products quite well!!

I know it could be time consuming and expensive start, but you currently has study permit as only option to land in Canada sooner. If you have a spouse enroll her in Hospitality course so that you can obtain open work permit based as her accompanying spousal dependant, and once she complete her course she will get Post Graduate Work Permit and entitle you for extension too. In the mean time while she do study you can join any restaurant to see the business and opportunities. Life will be tough but exciting too.

By the way I am working in Indian Restaurant for last three years and have seen how these owners built their businesses and where they came from. I came here as student (Finance background) end up in this industry to support my expenses. It is lot of hard work and sound management only that person can manage who has gut of operations and know the recipes himself too.

Quite true bro I too consider study permit as my only was to Canada and Possibly make it through there!! :-X
Well right now i dont have a spouse but will be getting married 2 years down the line so what are my options if I am at Canada by any chance? also she is well educated holding a managers position in a MNC in Mumbai India and also a MBA so what will be the oppurtinity for her 2 years down the line when she comes???
I am really glad to hear that you are in the same Industry as me , honestly sometimes it sucks but is a real adventure!! 8)

Bro need a advice on a personal Note, "my father has his own land and operates a fast food restaurant in a Prime locality in Mumbai since past 26 years!!since i dont have any siblings the responsibility comes on me" ! :'(
we have a small family of three and no Liabilities back home with ownership house in a prime locality again, we have a annual profit of Rupees 10-12 Lakhs! and also donot need to support any one with that fund, also my Land rental value is at Par with my profit
That means even if we lease it we get the same money and in Indian terms WHITE MONEY!!!! ;D
But still i dont like the life here having living and studied in the UK,
do you think it is worth leaving all this and relocating to canada and start a new business years down the line?? Just for good lifestyle and so on??
or should i Just continue in India??
Also my Fiance has a good Job with even stronger financial status but quite ready to move to Canada if I relocate.
I Have explained how the life is full of Handwork, discipline, dedication and not as easy as In India and shes OK!!

PS: Did my post Graduation in Hotel Management in UK in 2010 unfortunately laws changed so had to come back home since then just not liking it here due to Corruption, poor quality of life and so on I sure you know it as well since ur a Indian !!

Cheers!!!

I understand your situation and these decision looks quite difficult to decide at initial stage, the biggest problem with you will be initial start and days of settlement, as you are single now you can easily struggle and settle with adjustment but disadvantage is you are engaged and will always remain worried abt your partner and parents and seriously it is not easy to live at such distance ... you will loose mental peace..!

Regarding your business, I honestly feel RS10-12lakh profit from food business is not enough at all comparative to hard work involved so obviously I will suggest to rent it out you may fetch extra rent out of that place. But make sure you rent it with proper agreement and too a corporate.

If your next step will to move alone as a student, who will take care of your parents..? Who will look around business in India... how you gonna manage study and living expense of almost Rs14lakh for first year [56*($13000+$12000)], it will take you almost 2 years to cover your money as during first few months you will be unable to earn anything.

I will suggest (assuming your age below28) get in touch with immigration consultant in India ask him to arrange LMO or AEO from Alberta Lawyer see what options they can offer you. Otherwise keep your paper work ready rules for PR will be changing in january2013 and we are expecting lenient rules and fast processing, I will suggest you to give IELTS (G) as soon as possible and plan to apply PR directly it will save time and money both. This is my personal experience I can canada at age of 26 and spent three years in study and struggle and still waiting for PR whereas few of my mates waited in India and came directly as PR and face lesser amount of Hardship than me.
