Hi,

I am making a Citizenship application for myself and my son. (Hopefully in September 2018)

He is a 9yr old and does not have a photo ID. His Health card doesn't have a photo.

If anyone has had experience in providing an alternate document or know the process to get a Photo ID from school or school record, please share your experience.

Thanks
Manu

You can include copy of his passport and PR Card too (those have photos, right).
Plus the letter from the school

I am not sure, there were a few people who's application seems to have been returned when they included only health card (no photo) and letter school / report card. Others seem to have got AOR after with the documents you mentioned.

In check list, it says in bold that PR card is not accepted as photo ID. So we didn't want to take a chance, we went ahead and got school record with photo

Hi.

To be on the safe side, I suggest that you apply for a provincial ID card for your son. I had to do the same for my minor son as the passport office did not accept the school ID with photo and he does not have a driver's licence. However, his citizenship application was processed without any issues with his school photo ID. We got his provincial ID in about 7 days.

I checked for a photo ID and I was told that in Ontario its only for 16+. We wouldn't be able to get him a provincial ID

I included passport bio pages (copies) twice and PR card since they have photos; (health card just in case) and their school Student Record (without photos). Got processed without a glitch.

I called CIC and they said you can attach what you have even if without photo they will process if we provide an explanation.
