Schedule A form question

Hi everyone

So I submitted an outland application to the UK in Oct for family class, common law. I am living with my common law Canadian partner in Victoria BC

My partner was approved as a sponsor within 30 days and my application was sent to london Oct 16th

Today i got an email from london saying:

I have to send Schedule A background declaration with details of activity and addresses since i was 18.

I am confused, the form i completed specified that you should complete the form as far back as 10 years or since 18, which ever was soonest, being 43 i completed the form for the last 10 years. The manual of guidance also specifies 10 years or since 18, whichever is most recent.

I do not understand why I am now being asked to complete a schedule with details going back to aged 18? Is this just a way to slow down your application?

Has anyone got any ideas, or has this happened to anyone else? In the email it says they take 4 months to deal with submitted documents which means my application is being unnecessarily delayed.

If they want to know what you have been doing since aged 18 why not just change the form to ask for your details since aged 18?

any thoughts appreciated.

Many of gone through this, I think its officers discretion especial when it comes to older age ( sorry 43 not old ) but u know what I mean. Also, some location specific forms say since 18

They love wasting everyone's time too, welcome to CANADA and it's waiting period from health to immigraiton

I just sent my initial application with info since 18. I doubt they are on a vendetta or out to get you. I advise you to just get the info together and back to them asap. Nobody likes being delayed or feeling singled out but we all endure it for the immigration process.

Unfortunately, but hopefully you can supply what they want. I think in many cases they just REQUEST more information just to test things like 1) is your address working, 2) are you genuine. 3) others reasons

I was not to impressed either , but i was advised before sending in the application to go back to the age of 18 , since it seems to be happening a lot . Applying outland from London also. My husband is 52 , thank god he has a good memory . I had to go on the website to find all the postal codes.

I am the sponsor also from the U.k . Had to laugh they asked for telephone numbers . We didn't have a telephone, unless they want the number of the local phone box lol

It happened to my wife also. She just sent in the last 10 years but they e-mailed her back saying they want info since the age of 18. They should update their documentation and just say they want everything since the age of 18. But in any case, it didn't delay my wife's application much, if at all.

thanks everyone for your input

makes me wonder why they just don't use a form that asks for aged 18 onwards? is there an ulterior motive to this. :(

I seriously doubt there is an ulterior motive. What is most likely is that they have a new policy where they want everything since age 18 but they have not properly updated their instructions. Outdated instructions and documentation is common in my industry so I don't find this suspicious at all.

I suspect it is the other way round and due to the VOs not appreciating that the requirements have changed. When I applied I downloaded the form (IMM 5669) completed it and mulled over it for months before sending in the application. It is still on my computer. Fortunately as a result of info supplied by someone on this site I double checked the form before sending in the application, to ensure that the form was the correct edition. I found that it had been revised (in December 2012). The old form (edition July 2011) at paragraph 8 required details of personal history ' since the age of 18, or the past 10 years, whichever comes first'. Not very elegant English but clear enough. The new form (edition December 2012) asked for details of personal history 'since the age of 18 or the past 10 years, whichever is most recent'. Less burdensome but no more elegant. Unfortunately the amendment was not carried through to paragraph 9 which contains a whole of life requirement: not even a starting point at age 18 let alone at the beginning of the last 10 years. So CIC appears to be interested in membership of or association with suspect organizations like the wolf cubs, boy scouts (or brownies or girl guides depending on gender) Sunday school etc! Real oldies like me ( I am not a young sprog in my 40s!) find the requirement somewhat surprising and burdensome. My reply giving information only from University days onwards has not as yet got me into trouble but only time will tell.

Exact thing happened to us through Mexico City. CIC should change the form, for crying out loud! It is frustrating to add any delays.

I am sure it is just the LES/clerks who are checking through the forms. I doubt at this point, the VO has reviewed the file.

You're hilarious. At least you can't forget the number that way! Yes the Canadian govt does love it's red tape. If you deluge them with stuff, it covers their butts that 'they' were thorough.
