scanning & photocopying canada passport

Dear friends
I am happy to say that we got Canadian passport. I seek two clarifications:-
a) Passport says it has integrated electronic circuit and should be treated as electronic device. ARE WE ALLOWED TO SCAN AND PHOTOCOPY THE PASSPORT FOR RECORDS as I am afraid the rays of these machine should not affect the passport.
b) No more digital signature and we have been asked to sign on page 3 and write the address and reference on the page 4. Is everybody getting this.

You can scan and photocopy as many times as you want. Also sign and address is a standard procedure. Please go ahead and do it
