hi, i just wanna ask.. i have a girlfriend in the philippines were living for 6yrs.. as i fly here in canada my application was single because i never knew that "common-law partner" is applicable to same sex and theres no legal marriage in phillippines. my question is i would like to sponsor my partner in future. in 2 months im gonna process my papers for permanent resident. do i need to change my papers having a common law partner not single but will it affect my application?

you should declare your partner upon submitting your papers for your PR since you already cohabited for approximately 1 year :) pinoy din ako, same sex din kami ng partner ko :D
 
If you don't declare your common-law partner, then 2 things will happen.
1. Your partner will be banned forever from being sponsored by you under family class.
2. By claiming you're single when in fact you are common-law, you are committing misrepresentation and could have your PR revoked if CIC finds out about it.

So in other words, you must declare your partner. You will need to return any visa/COPRs you already have as single, add your partner to your app and she will need to do medical, police checks, etc, and you will both get visa/COPR together as a common-law couple.
