Hi, everyone is welcome to express their opinion on this post. Thanks in advance.

I am a canadian citizen engaged with my same-sex partner from the philippines, we are currently on the process of getting her a trv to come here and marry (legality speaking because we both wanted to have the same rights as hetero-sexual couples have. Eg: get a house under our names etc.) No plans of her staying in canada cos she owns few businesses and aside from that, runs their family businesses as well.

I stated in the invitation letter that she is my fiance and will only be here for a month just to marry tland meet my family, then will go back to manila after that.

Included in the letter and our application would be my LOE, NOA 2016, CIT. CERT. and a letter of support from my family wishing her to come here plus their certificates as well.

For her part, all previous passports which shows hundreds of international stamps for travel, proof of funds, legit business registration papers, properties, investements and such.

Question is, stating she is my fiance on the letter and our intention of getting married here for legalities, whatare the chances of her being denied or approved? I spoke to a consultant and i only got a single word response. POSITIVE.

THANKS TO ALL THAT WILL ANSWER.

Not sure what led your consultant to that conclusion. You also did not share any information that would have indicated you would be approved for a TRV.

From what I understand, to be approved for a TRV, your reason to travel to Canada is not as important as your ties to the Philippines. Even if you have a virtuous purpose of getting married to your partner, which is not recognized in the Philippines, the weight of your TRV application is in your economic and financial ties.

Included in the letter and our application would be my LOE, NOA 2016, CIT. CERT. and a letter of support from my family wishing her to come here plus their certificates as well.

You would need to give the specifics of these so we would know your chances for sure. Also, please keep in mind this is an international forum, so others may not know what NOA and CIT CERT are.

Hi,

Based on your post, it does seem like your partner has a strong application (international travel, properties et al).... all the right reasons to get a TRV approval.

While one must always be honest when submitting any visa/documents to IRCC, stating that she intends to visit to get married in Canada, is a huge negative. I hope I'm wrong: She risks a TRV refusal by mentioning this purpose of visit. To IRCC it would seem like she intends to file an inland PR application later which is something that could lead to a TRV refusal.

On a side note: Don't hire this consultant who said 'POSITIVE' to prepare your partner's PR application!

Hope she gets her TRV soon

Bryanna--->

Thanks for your feed back.. i really appreciate it, yes I know it is a negative thing to mention, but again we dont want to lie and invite her as a friend instead especially having the intention to marry right? No, an inland application would not be necessary she will be flying back home after a month's stay. We just want to get married so our future plans (joint investments and business) will never be put to question in terms of legality (we have the right to each others funds and decide for each each other.)
