i applied in September 2013.
On my reference letter, it says my annual salary is approximate 30,000-35,000. Because hours vary week to week.
I worked last year june2012 to december 2012 and a couple weeks in January 2012.
My 2012 T4 has salary of 23,000 which is earned in around 7 month.
i kinda calculated on average for a year.
Is there would be any problem ?

Is "salary" the proper terminology to use here? It sounds like you earn an hourly rate. In which case, you would report that on the letter. There would be no issue as long as the equivalent full-time wage is comparable to the standard for that job.

Well the main thing is hours worked, not so much how much you make. You say your letter states you work varying hours, but does it state that it's at least 30 hrs per week? That's what counts. If you can prove you worked at least 30 hrs every week for a year, either with your letter or by other means (e.g pay stubs), then you'll be fine.

yes, it says i work 40-50 hours/ week. Sorry about mistake, its not salary based, It is hourly.
But on my letter it says, my annual salary is 30,000-35,000. It also shows the per hour wage rate and number of hours I work.
I am only worried that officer doesn't go with the word "salary".

I wouldn't be worried. I don't think that would matter. If the amount in your NOA matches whats put in your letter, I don't foresee it being an issue. Salary or hourly doesn't matter as long you are getting paid, working the required amount of hrs and working legally.

It's interesting that the Document Checklist does ask for "total annual salary plus benefits". For those on an hourly rate I guess the approach is to report annualized earnings based on the number of hours usually worked per week. What's important is that you aren't significantly underpaid for your industry.

Of course the number of hours worked is important too - I assume you've made up the remainder of the 12 months during 2013.

Probably, the best way would be, I will send my T4 for 2013 when i will get at the end of this year.
That will clarify my approximate salary for this year.

If it's variable then you are paid an hourly wage, not a salary. As long as the hourly rate and actual hours you have worked are evident and the maths works, you should be fine. If not, you may run into some issues.
