My husband is waiting for his passport to be returned with the visa, and I just need to know what I need to get ready.

Will he get his SIN right away when landed or do we need to apply for one?

Will he be able to open a bank account without one?

yes you need to apply for SIN after getting his PR. i think it takes around one week
and you can open bank accounts without SIN

Thank you, so I can just bring him down town to the SIN office and apply with his ID, or will they give him a package when landed? Do you know if it the same for the health card?

You need to bring him down to the office in your city to apply.

he can apply for SIN same day he arrives at any service canada office, he will need his passport and COPR and an address where his SIN card will be delivered. they will give him a whole lot of booklets and health card application form at airport.

he will have to provide a proof of address in order to apply for health card, I got my bank account opened without any problem but they did ask for SIN, dont worry you will get SI number rightaway its just the card that arrives within 10 working days!

for health card I am going to provide them with my bank statement as soon as it arrives, he will need his passport and COPR as well. his 90 days time will start same day he lands, therefore, it doesnt matter when he applies for the health card!
