Russia or Fedration of Socialist Republics?

Hi guys,

I am currently in the process of filling my EE form and I am confused about what to add for my mother's country of birth. She is Bulgarian, but was born in Russia (then Soviet Union) in 1958. Should I put Russia or Federation of Socialist Republics?

Put the name of the current country that owns the place where she was born. it is more like just in case, they wanted to contact that country to clear the situation. (and somehow there is no way to contact USSR anymore as this country does not exist anymore).

I was also putting name of the current country for me (even if there was name change in the past).

Put the country that is shown in her passport (as a place of birth)

Actually even USSR doesn't exist anymore there's a choice as Union of Soviet respublics in the list of countries - so choose this one
