Hello everyone,

I got RQ from Scarborough office last week after I submitted my application for citizenship on end of Jan,2014. During the 4 year period, I've been absence twice, first time 2 months summer vacations, and second time around 5 more months in my home country. Besides that, I've consistently living here for rest of the time and sufficient for 1095 days.

I'm a musician and you know the occupational nature, they're always self-employed. In the past 3 years, I've suffered from chronically illness (with medical records) and unable to work regularly, but I still filled out the application form with private teaching studio which actually didn't run and make no money. I haven't filed tax since no income. My question is: does it matter that I can't prove my employment since I don't have any T4 or CRA assessment but I addressed " self-employed" in the application form? Should I write unemployed on RQ form? or Write exactly the same thing as the original application info to avoid conflicts and explained it was part-time and I was unable to work due to the health situation?

I am providing all my rental, gas, hydo bills and bank/credit statements also medical records to prove my residency.

Any suggestions and advices would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Right your exact status and send credit card statements & pay slips if any. Also get your OHIP claim details, since u have chronic illness.
You should have filed income tax for what ever little u have earned.
I too applied in jan-2014 and got RQ in may end. Send my documents except OHIP Claim to CIC last week.

Whatever you do or say, do not give an information different and conflicting with the one you gave initially in your application. How can you say now you were unemployed while you already said you were self employed. That means you lied at least once. What you can do instead is include a cover letter and explain your situation( self employed with no income). It was not wise not to file for taxes even if you had no income.
Good luck.
