Have a valid b1 b2 visa. What if i enter US and cross through roxham road ? What happens at the immigration center they take to ? Does it take long there and will I be detained ? Also given that asylum claim is found eligible will be given work permit ? On what conditions do they release from immigration center ? Lets say i have a long distant relative in Ottawa who is willing to let me live with him. Would that be enough ?

Yes, you'll be detain at the border until your background check will be completed.

it's all depend on CBSA how fast they can do your background check. Once your claim being eligible you'll have to do medical test and right after your medical result you can apply for work permit which will take approx 4 to 5 weeks.

At border you'll get harsh time as you are entering illegal in Canada and will be arrest same time, there is no guarantee that your claim can be accepted.

Thanks for the reply. Ive tried for a visitor visa once but it got denied. Does entering on a trv to Canada compared to entering illegally have an impact on the long term on your case ?

Yes. Applicants are being processed faster in the hopes that those who don't qualify can be deported as fast as possible and the US seems to be banning applicants from entry for unknown amount of years for misusing their visa. Make sure you have done everything like move to another region of your country before attempting asylum.

I'll apply for a visitor visa once again. Also couple last question

1) is it possible if a relative of mine in Canada arranges a lawyer and the lawyer comes along me at the immigration center to apply for asylum ?

2) Not using any kind of social assistance and paying taxes as we work has a positive impact on the the case ?

3) my parents have 10 years visitor visa will they be able to come visit Canada? Or would they be questioned at port of entry as their child is a refugee claimant. Parents wont be claiming asylum and would return back

Still hoping i can settle it here and dont need to claim asylum anywhere tough to leave everything behind. Thanks a ton for your answers. God Bless

1. Sure you can arrange a lawyer. Not necessary for them to file the initial claim for you.

2. No effect.

3. Yes it could effect your parents ability to visit Canada.

Would encourage you to consult with a few immigration attorneys to see if you have grounds for asylum. If someone assures you 100% don't trust them. Claiming asylum has long term consequence.

We've heard of visitor visas being cancelled of claimants' family members.

Would suggest looking at your economic immigration options and hiring a lawyer before making a decision. There is a misconception about asylum being a workaround to immigration but claimants give up seeing their family for many years and travel freedom.

IRCC may also think that you are asylum shopping because you have a valid US visa and did not claim asylum there.

What questions do they ask during the eligibility interview? Do they only do backgroud and security checks or do they ask the basis of claim aswell ?

LOL! There is nothing which can practically stop OP from crossing in to Canada if they have or can seek entry in to US with their valid visa. There are different threat levels for illegal border crossers of which OP will sit at the bottom and be handed a work permit most likely while hearing is in progress .
Yes I cannot stop somebody from doing illegal activity. But certainly I will not advise anybody how to do such activity. And yes asking about such thing (illegal crossing), is against rules of this forum.
