Hello Everbody -
This forum is great source of information and have been using it since I came to Canada. Thanks for all professional support. Today, I want to initiate a new topic and many would be seeking more information on same with many doubts in mind.
1. I would be seeking more clarity as it is mentioned many times that new government will be riverting the OLD citizenship rules soon. Does any body has information when they are expected to be out and would it rivert all clauses of NEW BILL?
2. Credit for previous stay on student or work permit status (which is counted half) - For this would they look into past 3 years out of 4 years? Which means as I got my PR in 2014 they will be crediting my stay for year 2012 and 2013 only though I landed here in 2009. Please explain, how it was counted in OLD rules.
2. NEW rule says 1460 days with 183 days/year to be eligible for citizenship. In OLD rule, it was something 1095 days in past 4 years with no physical presence liability. If thats the case, for me to be eligible in 2016 according to OLD rules - they would take into account 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012? Where 2012 and 2013 period would be counted half? Need clear opinion on this.
3. As I was doing my calendar counts on CIC online calculator in OLD system my stay period was over but they had a clause of being on PR status of minimum of 2 yrs before application of citizenship. Does this mean physical presence of 730 days after you gained PR or its wait time to complete 2 years on PR status if your stay is over 1095 days?
4. It could be comments on the points, I am not taking into consideration.
I would request you all to discuss this topic and would be of great help for individuals like me and others who are looking forward for their citizenship application.
Thanks,
Raj
