Right of Permanent Residence Fee

Hello,

I've been working in Canada with a work permit for the last 3 years. I applied for the CEC 8 months ago, sent my medicals 5 months later and a couple of weeks ago I got an email saying my application was sent to the New York office.

Today I received an email from the New York office requesting my passport (yay!) but I am confused about the Right of Permanent Residence Fee. On the letter they sent me there are 3 sections: Passport Requirements, Photograph Requirements and Fees. Under the Fees section this is what they say:

Right of Permanent Residence Fee. This fee must be paid at our office.

Does this mean I shouldn't send the fee along with my passport? Isn't it weird that they are asking me for the passport before I pay the fee?

Thanks in advance!

No no, send the fee to the office with your passport. It's not weird, you pay the RPRF when you get your visa, it makes sense to me. As for paying at the NY office, that just means, don't send it to Buffalo, don't try to pay online, you have to send the payment to the NY consulate.

And, congratulations!

Thank you!
What I find weird is that, in the letter, there is a bunch of details regarding passport and photograph requirements, but none regarding the fee. It doesn't say how much it is, how should it be paid or to whom should I make the money order payable. And the "This fee must be paid at our office" is in bold and underlined.

Anyway, I'd rather send it now to avoid any delay. So, to whom should I make the money order?

What I find weird is that we're at the same visa office and our experience is so different, less than a month apart :)

Anyway - the info is on the CIC-NY website:
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/new_york/visas/fees-frais.aspx?lang=eng

And, what I find REALLY weird is the absence of the "Canadian Experience Class" from some of these documents...
