My wife was granted permanent resident status at the end of July, but unfortunately we will not be moving our family back to Canada at this time. I requested a refund of the Right of Permanent Residence fee, which I paid in advance, but after more than 3 months, we have not received any refund, or even any correspondence from the CIC, despite the fact that the automated response states that refunds are processed within 4 to 6 weeks, and email queries are responded to within 10 days. I have no problem waiting for the refund, but it feels as though the requests are disappearing into a black hole.
Does anyone out there have any experience requesting a refund? I would love to hear your feedback. Also, I emailed my request along with a copy of my payment cofirmation to the email address specified on the CIC website, but perhaps I should have sent it elsewhere? The information is poorly outlined on the website, so it's very possible I made a mistake. Again, any feedback here would be great.
