Hi.

I'm a PR in canada, got it as a result of my husband being in grave danger in our home country, my parents are very sick and I would like to go to them even for a few days, I was never personally threatened. Could i ask IRB and the CIC for a permit so I could go just for a short period of time to visit them. Thanks

did you receive you PR as a dependent? Did they seize your passport when you arrived or receive a refugee document?

if you have pr status then don't worry to travel. There is no restriction against pr traveling or returning to their homeland.

That's only true for dependents. For primary applicants there is a restriction and traveling to the home country can lead to a loss of PR when they apply for Canadian citizenship.

1. They also can be reported on re-entry from their homeland if they are the principal, CBSA can apply to vacate their refugee status and along with it their PR status.

My am a protected person because of my husband we arrived together and got refugee status because of him, he is the primary. At entry yes they took my passport but they gave it back to me when we became permanent residents. Still not sure what would happen if I go or should I contact IRB to ask for a special permission.
