Hello,
I am an international student here to do my undergraduates. I have already been issued a study visa for four years, but now due to some financial trouble I need to return back to my home country. I would like to know if I have to cancel my study visa before returning back? If so then How?

If you stop attending school for more than 90 days, your study permit will be canceled. You will need to apply for a new study permit to return.

Thank you for your reply.
But when I contacted my university regarding this matter they told me they will hold my admission for two years before cancelling it.
Will my visa still be cancelled?

The university does not issue your permit CIC does. As Scylla said if you stop studying the visa will be cancelled after 90 days. You will have to pply for a new visa if you plan to return

They will hold your admission - but they will still have to report to CIC that you have stopped attending classes. So yes - your study permit is going to be canceled and you will have to reapply.

So then I don't have to do anything to cancel it, it will automatically get cancelled?
P.s.
Thank you so much for your help

So in then case I won't have to contact CIC and tell them regarding my stopping of classes here.

Not going to happen.

All universities are required to submit a list of registered students to CIC each semester/term - most of these lists are automatically generated out of their computer systems which will show you as an inactive student. The university isn't going to lie, falsify their records and break the law just to help you out.

You see I'm just asking if I have to cancel the visa myself? Or will it happens automatically.
I never meant to ask if the university would help me out.
Sorry if my question wasn't clear.
