Returning back after soft entry questions

Hello everyone,

I recently received my COPR and my family and I are planning to make our soft landing next week. However, we will be returning in 10 days as I intend to work for another year in Qatar. I have 2 questions if anyone can help me:

1. On the personal items declaration form, I believe I need to document everything I bring right now and everything I plan to bring later on. What if I buy something later on that I hadn’t documented upon my first entry? What about property that hasn’t been sold yet, like my car?

2. Since I will only be staying for 10 days, should I start a bank account in Canada? Can’t I just use my credit card? if I do need to create an account, how much money should I bring as bank draft? can I not transfer the money online from my Qatar bank account?

Please help!
Thanks!

1. Unless you are buying something which is highly valued like 10K (random number) worth of gold and bringing it without declaring you should be okay. What you list in items is high value items such as Jewellery and not clothes or other randomthings.
2. You can use your credit card. There is no mandate that you need a bank account. But it might be easier for you to transfer money next time when you move permanently.

Least links to Canada the better to keep you a non-resident for tax purposes. If you can I would wait to open a bank account.
