Dear all,

This forum was really important for me to get my PR, however my Canadian Job Ex was not so good.

I got my PPR in April 2017 and landed in July 2017. Stayed there for 1 week, however, got very good offer in Singapore (almost $100,000). Thought I was better in Singapore.

In July 2018, I was turning almost 30 years old and my parents were pushing for marriage, so I thought to give final try to Canada. Came on 3 weeks vacation and gave three interviews. I got no offer. Went back to job in Singapore. Changed my employer in Singapore and thought Canada will soon be forgotten.

Things changed, I got engaged to my bf and after discussion with him, we both decided settling in Canada would be for good

In July 2019, I came again to Canada for 4 weeks - gave 4 interviews and one interview went till the offer. I explained them I have to sell my car and do two months notice period and I have marriage in Dec 2019. They were generous enough to give me job from Jan 2020. Also the job I shall be on; is being done by 62/63 year old guy who will retire by Feb 2020, so I guess they were fine. My job starts from Jan 20, 2020. I have already resigned and my last day was Nov 28 in Singapore

By the way, In July 2019, I was asked at Immigration why I haven't stayed in Canada since for 2 years, I was honest enough and said I have got no job and am looking for job. They send me to check my bags where I was told to stay in Canada at least for 2/5 years. I said I will permanently come in 2020. On asking reason, they asked about my travels to US, Europe and Singapore. I told I am working in Singapore and regularly go to US/Europe for business visits and India for family visits.

Now I have few queries: Q1: Will there be any hassle when I go to Immigration at Toronto in Jan 2020? Will they report me? Even when I have stayed two months and have 2 years 9 months on validity of my PR Card.
Q2: How soon I can sponsor my husband?
Q3: If sponsoring husband will be the great hell of hassle? My employer in Singapore is very keen to get me back and said they can offer me $140,000 and will also get my husband dependent visa thing sorted within 30 days (Singapore is very quick to process visas and I love that city. My offer in Canada is only $80,000.

Appreciate your help on above questions!

Q1. You will face questions and scrutiny for sure. But since you have not lived abroad longer than 3 years, you will be able to justify easily.
Q2. You can start the process immediately. But it can take 6 to 12 months to complete.
Q3. No idea how Singapore and Canada compare.

Q1: I believe you will be just fine. Given you haven't completed 3 years and stayed for 2 months and you were honest and now you have the job
Q2: Process could start immediately, however, sponsoring takes 9-12 months to complete
Q3: IMO, Singapore has better economy / pay structure and tax structure than Canada, but it should be your personal decision. See what aim you have. In case your main aim is to live with your husband, and enjoy luxury, then Singapore as in Canada you will be having stagnant pay and your husband may not able to come before 6-9 months as they will take time process his sponsorship.

A1 What type of questions they will ask? - I have PR Card now, although last two times I used PRTD Visa. My PRTD Visa is valid till 10 July 2020.

When I saw Spousal Sponsorship - it was showing 12 months. I obviously don't wann stay 12 months without my husband. While his spousal sponsorship is in process, can he even apply for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)? Are both Visas are mutually exclusive (I guess)?

You should not have any issues while entering on a PR Card. Yes your husband can join you on a visitor visa while you sponsor his PR. But it would be better to apply for his visitor visa now. Once you are married they may reject visitor visa for dual intention. If he has visitor visa before marriage he can still come to Canada on the visa and then you can sponsor him.

Our wedding is on Dec 12. I have asked him to apply but we may not able to have all documents ready by that time as we both are very busy!!

I understand. It's not necessary that visitor Visa is rejected per se.

But there are stories on this forum where a spouse's visitor Visa was rejected for dual intent. But case facts may differ.

At Delhi or Munich

Yes I took flight from Delhi to Toronto via Munich! Never faced any issue whatsoever at Delhi or Munich as I had my PR Card.

At Toronto Pearson

When I landed in Toronto, my PR card was not recognized by those machines which made me go to Primary Officer who asked how long I have been out and etc, when I said I have been in country for just 1 month, she seems to ask for my passport. Do not remember the exact conversation, but it went this way:

Border Contro/VO: Hey, How long have you been out?
Me: Almost an year now.
VO: How many days you have stayed in Canada
Me: Just few days, however, now I am here for good.
VO: Do you know you need to complete 2 year residency
Me: Yes
VO: Where you have been all these years?
Me: Singapore, Europe, India, Japan, US
VO: Can you show me your passport. She started looking at all my Visa Stamps. Asked Why so many of your stamps were issued in Singapore?
Me: I was working there for 2.5 years. Came to Canada for a month.
VO: Do you have any other country passport (I dont know why this question was asked!)
Me: No, India only
VO: She scans my passport and tells have you been to Hong Kong in 2017/18/19
Me: I transited through Hong Kong for Canada while flying Cathay Pacific in 2017 and Japan while flying Air India in 2018. I traveled for 5 days to Hong Kong in Sep 2019
VO: Looks surprised, she keeps looking at the screen and tells your port of entry is being shown in Hong Kong when you say, but it doesn't shows that you left Hong Kong after that, but I can see that you entered Singapore and India and then your entry exists in Europe. Did anytime you had flu?
Me: Common cold happens, but not any particular flu
VO: She said given you been to Hong Kong and system shows you didn't leave (may be an error). We have to send you to Medical Screening

I am screened further at Medical Room where I was given clearance to enter.

After that I picked my stuff and entered Canada. Joined my job on Jan 27 in Downtown! Still looking for place as for 2 months I am in Airbnb!
