Hi all,

i was just wondering if anyone would know about the following:
im from ireland, dating a canadian girl who is moving home at the end of may as she just recieved a job offer. we have been dating for over 3years, living together for 15months. i have been to canada 3 times with her and stayed with her family and went to family wedding etc.

so, i filled out the application for 'permanent residance in canada' via the common-law partner route, and sent it off to high commission of canada, london in early/mid march. however it arrived back this afternoon

the whole package was sent back along with a cover letter 'family class immigration' with various info regarding who can sponsor etc and the only bit i can see that might be applicable is 'all sponsorships must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario'.

is this where i need to send the application? i see other irish nationals on this website sent theirs to London, and thats what it says on the cic website...

also, the first form from part 1(application to sponsor) and part 2(application for permanent residence ib canada) were stamped 'recieved' but nothing else...the big brown envelope had the text 'small packets' written on it(not sure if that was a post thing though?)

not sure what to do with it now? any advice? will phone them tomorrow morning but hopeing i can get it sent off tomorrow morning agian!

thanks

They told you.....

All sponsorships must be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario

If the sponsor is approved, then the file will be sent from Canada to the Visa office for processing.

with that in mind, a quick question:
is it ok to leave a few blanks in the fields address, eg: 2009/11 - ____/__ (which wis present) and also day of start of work (cant remember the day as it was so long ago.

also, declaration of common-law. should we fill that out? it says in the info booklet 'If you have a co-signer, complete this form only if you and your co-signer are in a common-law relationship.' we dont have co-signer, but im in common law with my gf?? i have left it out of the last application.

thanks

Don't leave any blank spaces otherwise they will send the package back you need every single day covered. If you can't remember the exact date make an educated guess. No one expects you to remember every single detail and the exact time and they may check it when they do security checks.

You do need to fill in a form that is notarized to delclare you are common law and for how long. Not sure about the co-signer bit though...is it the right form?

Irish nova if she was born in Canada then she is a Canadian born citizen and therefore never had permanent resident status because she was a Canadian citizen from the day she was born.
Also I saw in your original post that you filled out the 'In Canada' application forms. Am I right about this?

that's right if she is a citizen, answer yes to citizen, NO to permanent resident, and "claim by descent" depends, was she in born in canada? if so, claim by descent in NO, if she was born elsewhere but to canadian parents, and later got canadian citizenship based on that, then claim by descent is YES

you should fill it out and it needs to be notarized too. But it does say you need to fill it out only if you have a co-signer. We didn't have a co-signer and we filled it out and had it notarized. There are some people on this forum that were requested to fill it out later by their visa office, so it's better to have it already done, just in case they ask for it. I'm not sure if they ask it from everyone, as it seems that nothing is logical in this process. But it certainly doesn't hurt to do it. Just takes a small amount of time and maybe a small amount of money (for the notarization) to do it.

Good luck!

I have a feeling you may be filling out the wrong forms. You mentioned you're filling out permanent residence in Canada forms?

I would do the common-law declaration as I was requested to send it after the fact and it added time to my process.
