Hypothetical question here.. Can a Canadian citizen, retire in, lets say Florida, USA and live there permanently? If I wanted this to happen in my future, what do I have to do? Thanks for the help.

No - you can't. Much like Canada, if you want to live in the US permanently you must apply to immigrate and be accepted. The US doesn't have a retirement immigration class. So you would likely have to immigrate there as a skilled worker. If you want more information I would suggest you join the following US immigration forum:

Interesting retirement plan.... its usually the other way around, people from US want to retire in Canada because of health benefits.

But there are what they call canadian snowbirds who live part of the year (winters) in warm US states and move back in the summer. but that would involve paying for/ maintaining 2 properties.
