Restoration of Status

Hi everyone, could be a rant but please bear with me... I need your side of the coin.

I passed an application to extend my Open Work Permit while waiting for my PR. Sent it 2 months before the expiration of my Open work permit.

Unfortunately I paid the wrong amount, instead of paying 155 I just paid 100. I was confused at that time when I was paying online. I later know this when yesterday I received my application (it was returned to me) with a letter saying that it was lack of 55$ and they can't do my papers because of that. And my open permit has expired and I need to apply restoration of status.

I can't stress enough about this, the letter was dated August 30 which is the same day of expiration of my Open work permit too. They dint even bother calling me or email to ask me to pay the remaining 55$?! Phone numbers and emails are on the forms so in case they need something they can reach us, right?!

So I did the restoration of status application and paid $355 and send it the same day.

My question is--since I am out of status already, should I resign from my work?

I've just got my self regular and got a new position... And it hurt me so bad that because of $55 my whole life and the life of my spouse ( I am sponsoring him) is on hold!

Please I need some point of view. Please.

Thank you.

Incomplete applications are refused / returned (this includes incomplete fees). This is the standard process.

Yes - you're out of status and need to stop working immediately. You'll need to wait for the restoration application to be approved. Once it's approved, you can apply for an OWP again (I assume you're being sponsored for PR inland through the spousal sponsorship program).
