hi everyone,
I applied for citizenship on mid April 2011, got invited to write the test on Feb 29 2012, and also got RQ.
It's very unlucky for my case, at first I didnt receive any letter for the test confirmation, so I called CIC reps on this ( based on what I have checked on the application status on the website). I also asked what had to bring to the test and was told to bring "original documents" by CIC rep.
But on my scheduled test, I didnt have my expired passport, and subsequently got RQ for that. Very anxious, I brought my expired passport later, trying to talk to citizenship officer in order to reverse her decision on RQ. She refused to talk to me, as well as confirm her attention not to reverse RQ.
RQ is so complicated to obtain in my case because I was a student most of the time in need for residency proof, could not get any employment letter/ I dont have any rent agreement, for I paid cash and move to like 5 different places in the past/ I rarely visit doctor.
However, I managed to send my Residency proof on early May 2012 ( they required 1 month or less but it took time to collect all the required documents)
Still very being very worried, I have a few questions:
1. Should I supplement more RQ proofs now because I only complete what is ticked off on my checklist, not much more. Also I did not send in my medical report yet ( it was mailed to me quite late)
2. Timeline for RQs process, I know it varied on case basis, but I think there are a huge backlog in Mississauga office, someone told me it took at least 2 years.
3. Should I reapply for citizenship. I know it sounds absurd, but it's so sad to go through all the waiting, backlog, uncertainty when the only thing you did is not bringing your old passport. ( of which you can supply the day after)
4. I took the test, dont know if I pass or fail, should my RQ be ok ( like they gonna tell you 2 years later), should then I have to wait another 1 year to see the judge?
Many thanks
A little concern for those who will take the citizenship test, be prepared as much as possible on your residency checklist, bring your passports, ALL OF YOUR PASSPORTS , and EVERYTHING you could to prove your case. On my interview day, I was the last one on the list for my interview, the officer looked tired and could not care less when she issued the RQ.
