Hi,

I became Canadian permanent resident in May 2008. I stayed until June 2008 and left Canada after I got the PRC and other important documents such as social insurance card, health card, ID card. When I left Canada in June 2008, I went back to the States to finish my second year degree. I haven't returned to Canada ever since June 2008, which means I've been outside Canada for almost two years now. I'm planning now to return for good on June 2,2010. Is this ok? Did I meet the residency requirements? My PRC is good until June 2013. The residency requirements obligations state that you must live 730 days inside Canada to keep your permanent resident status but the obligations do not say if the 730 days have to be right after you became a PR. Could you please if my status is still good and if I can go back to Canada without facing any problems or questions from the customs officers. or What should I do?
Thanks

Hi,
As long as you stay 2 years out of the 5 years, it is ok for you to renew your PRC when expired.
If you move to Canada in June 2010 for good, by June 2013 you not only can renew your PR but also can apply for citizenship since you have already been there for more than 3 years.
Good luck Canadian-citizen-To-Be :)
