Hello Friends,

I am a newbee to these forums, i am in a peculiar and confusing situation so i thought to seek some help from you people.

Here is my situation,my wife has to go backhome to fulfill her professional obligations for almost 2-3 years,my son is studying here in canada and he is at turning point at his studies, if my wife leaves now she is having the grace period to stay out of country of 1.5 years(as she spent some time already back home so this is the only time left for her as per the rule of 2 years out of 5 years) and her PR card is going to expire in 6 months. I am a canadian citizen, my son wants to complete his studies here only and he can stay alone for some time, he is not a canadian citizen.

My question is that if my wife moves to backhome due to her obligations, if i stay 6 months with my son here and 6 months with her is it possible that she can maintain her residency obligation,i am not able to figure out this exactly, i found some inforegarding spouse accompanying a canadian citizen can maintain residency but in this case i am staying part of time only with her, even then still can she maintain her residency.Friends please suggest me some practical approaches to maintain her residency, she really does not want to loose her residency, i know we have to decide our priorities, but if there is any way available to maintain it as the thing i mentioned above will be a real good in our lives.

Please help me.
Thanks
vaio

Correct me if I am wrong. Your wife has only stayed in Canada for 6 months in the last five years. If not how long has she stayed in Canada in the past five years.

no, till today she almost stayed 3 years 5.5 years, she is having gap of 1.5 years from the present one year so the grace period for her to stay out of country is 1.5 years and her card is going to expire in 6 months.
Thanks

you have to return with her so the 6 months left would be spent with you and in this case becoz your a canadian citizen her stay in home will considered as a period inside canada , then after that she should comply with the 2 year/of next five years and the same thing every day you spen with her is a day inside canada

but if you cant stay with her atleast the next 6 months are important so she dosent lose her pr

hope i helped you
