Hi everyone,

I am a bit confused about landing in Canada after getting a PR card(which will expire on 20th Dec, 2027).
Previously I landed in Canada & stayed for 1months in Dec 2022 and currently Im in india.
To meet the residency obligation, in Canada, have to stay for 730 days in the last 5 years. Here, I intend to land in Canada before Dec 2025. Does it follow the residency obligation?

Looking forward to the opinion from mates?

Also, Pls let me know of any alternatives regarding the issue.

Thanks for the feedback!

If you arrive in Dec 2025 then you can stay inside Canada for straight two years and apply for renewal but you'll need to wait inside Canada with an expired PR card until you receive the new one.
If you travel outside Canada between Dec 2025 and Dec 2027, then in 2028, you'll need to wait until you have 730 days inside Canada in the previous 5 years, at the time of application before applying for renewal.

Remember that the PR status doesn't expire, it is only the PR card which gets expired.

Would suggest you leave a buffer. We regularly see people who become non-compliant because they have some sort of family emergency, have to travel for business, wan to go on holiday, etc.
