My PRC expires in July 2014, so I still have time to meet my residency obligations if I move in June/2012. Right?

I'm planning to work by myself as a consultant in Canada, and having a customer in USA. Majority of my work is done by internet and phone calls, so I can live in Canada and work from there. My concern is: in case I need to visit my customer, for instance, going to USA Monday and returning Friday, 1 week like this per month, is this time considered or not for renewing the PRC (are these considered "residency days")? If not, leaving Monday and returning Friday, how many days I will spend outside Canada, 5, 4 or 3?

Also, is there a problem if I do this for 2 years, in order words, not having a employer in Canada will create any problem to renew my PRC in 2014?

Thanks in advance

There is no problem so far you meet your residency requirement of 730 Days in preceding five years.
If you leave on Friday and return on Monday your absence will be for Two Days only. Pl note that even a partial presence is considered as FULL presence for residency requirement.
Since you will be traveling quite frequently it will be advisable to keep a record of your ENTRY AND EXIT of each occasion.
All the best.

Hello everbody,

sekk your adivse on my case.

We got the PR and travelledto Canada on 11 Dec 2011 and had to come back on 22 dec 2011 to Abu dhabi ,where i worked and mainly due to my daughter's educaiton. So far we have not received the PR cards and our plan is to travel back permenetly in end of June 2012 after my daughter's scholl term is over.

apprevite your advise

(i) in my case do we have travel back wihin 180 days from the date of landing.
(ii) if do not receive the PR cards, planning to apply for PRTD thorough Abu Dhabi
(iii) in the PRTD doc, upto what section we have to fill, section 15 states how many days in canada, here in my case it is less than 5 years. any sections to be filled after that eg ,16-18
(iv) In the doc checklist how to fill the details.
(v) is it necessary to enclose a travel ticket for proof.

It's great help forsome one who has gone htorugh the same type of case in UAE.....

Just fill out what it asks. In order to not meet the residency requirements, you would need to have been outside for 1095 days or more since you got your PR. If you are a PR for less than 1095 days, it is not possible for you to not meet them already so you will get your TD.
