Hi Seniors; Will be very thankful for responding towards my question. If some one landed in the middle of year and just short of few days for 183 days per year requirement, will these days be counted towards 1460 days in Canada out of six years?

Reference is new Propose requirement; Applicants must have spent 1,460 days in Canada over six years. They must also have been there for at least 183 days per year in four of the six years. Time spent in Canada before becoming permanent residents will no longer be counted.

I think they will be counted, but you'd also need the 183 days in 4 of the 6 years requirement to be met. Overall, I think it means those days won't matter because you'll need to wait an extra year basically to meet the second requirement. :(

I don't think it really matters. If you arrive say this year in July and do not have 183 days in 2014, you'd then stay in Canada 2015, 16 and 17 and then comes July 2018 which marks your 4 year stay, you would not have 183 days in 2014 but you do have them in 2018 so you would have your 1460 days as well as 183 days in each of 4 years.

Thank you Leon. 183 days per year basically is same requirement as previous one. Initially it sound like that you will be loosing your stay if it is less than 180 days.

It may delay your citizenship eligibility in some cases. Say you arrived in July 2014 and you don't stay for 183 days in that year. You stay for 2015, 16 and 17 and then leave in June 2018 for the rest of that year so you have almost 4 years in Canada but don't have 183 days in 2018 either. Then you would need to come back in 2019 and stay for at least 183 days in that year before you would be eligible to apply.
