Required Supporting Documents

I'm an American citizen who's been offered a temporary job in British Columbia. I have an offer letter from my future employer and the position is LMIA-exempt, so I don't need an LMIA number. I qualify for fast tracking under the Global Skills Strategy. I'm moving there alone, without partners or dependents... bascialy, I thought the application process would be pretty straightforward.

Instead, the online application wants A LOT of supporting documents, including Employment Reference Letter ("up-to-date reference from current or past employers"), Employment Records ("proof of work experience for your current job and for each past position you listed... Proof must include a reference letter from your employer and pay stubs."), and Letter from Current Employer ("letter from your current employer or proof of annotated pay stubs from your employer").

None of these documents are listed in the instructions for the paper application (for American citizens) or for applications submitted at a port of entry (again, for American citizens). The only references I've found to these documents are for people applying from European, Asian, or other countries. Any idea why I'm being asked to provide all these documents? The only thing I can think of is that I took a wrong turn somewhere during the initial questionnaire.

Thanks for any help, folks!
