Hello All,

I would like to give a brief of the current situation I am in and then post my questions :

Country : India
Education : Masters
Profession : Software Engineer (7 years 6 months)
Currently working as Software Engineer as AWS Cloud Operations Engineer
IELTS Result : Dec 14th 2017
WES Done : Feb27th 2018
Created Express Entry Profile : March 4th 2018
CRS Score : 473 (only me as applicant)

  • If I include my wife, my CRS is around 467. I have not included my wife as we are expecting our second child and Delivery Date is around September. I want to be present in India during that time (this is the reason I asked for the timeline of this whole process ).

  • I would like to know what are the next steps and approximate timelines for the next steps so that I can plan accordingly ?

The main reason to exclude my wife from adding is - I am thinking once I land in Canada , I will find a job , rent a house , find a school ,set things up and then allow them to travel.

Am i thinking right ? Please suggest.

Thank you!

If you do not include your wife and children as accompanying dependents in your application - you will have to sponsor them for PR once you have landed in Canada and become a PR yourself. Note that this sponsorship process will likely take around a year. During this time, you must be living in Canada - you cannot sponsor them while outside of Canada. Occasional short trips (e.g. 2-3 weeks) outside of Canada are OK - but anything longer and you'll risk refusal. You should also assume it won't be possible for your wife and children to obtain TRV (tourist visas) during this time. So if you follow your plan, you'll need to be prepared to be separated from your family for several months at a time.

Thank you @scylla

I get your point and I read it as , it is best to withdraw my current profile and create a new one to include them as it would be tough on me to be separated for a long time.

In that case - How does the medical thing work ? She cant get her scans done till she has delivered. Will this delay the process more ?

Yes - this will delay the entire application. She would complete the entire medical other than the x-ray. You would then let CIC know she is pregnant and cannot complete the medical at this time. Once she gives birth, she would complete the medical and you'll need to complete additional paperwork to add your new child to the application.

Note that even if you include her as non-accompanying - she will still need to complete the medical before your PR visa can be approved. So no matter what you do (i.e. whether you include her in the application or not as someone who is coming with you to Canada immediately), there's going to be a delay and the application will not be processed until after she has given birth.
