Hello all,

I did my citizenship ceremony this Monday. It took me 29 months. It was such a long journey, but it isn't over yet, I'm afraid.

I'd like to share my story with you all.

A couple weeks ago, I heard my father-in-law, who was outside Canada, was diagnosed with a final stage of lung cancer and the cancer spread all over, so I asked for urgent citizenship certificate delivery during the ceremony.
When I emailed oath forms back right after the ceremony, I also attached a certificate of diagnosis in the email. I also asked whether an in-person pickup would be available since the ceremony was orgainsed by the city where I live. No response thus far, and of course no certificate in my hand now.

What's worse, he PASSED AWAY the day before yesterday after his condition deteriorated quickly.

I emailed IRCC once again to keep them informed, but no avail so far. There's no news from them.

I even contacted an MP yesterday regarding the issue and they said they would contact IRCC, but no reply from them either so far.

I desperately need a citizenship certificate to apply for an urgent Canadian passport.

It's now Friday evening. There's absolutely nothing I can do about the situation.

I feel absolutely helpless and am extremely SAD.

My condolences, may he rest in peace. These bureaucrats, again, failed us.
