Hello all,
I did my ceremony this Monday. It took me 29 months to become a citizen.
Couple of weeks ago we heard my father-in-law, who was outside Canada, had a final stage of cancer, so I asked for urgent citizenship certificate delivery during the ceremony.
When I emailed oath forms back after the ceremony, I attached a certificate of diagnosis as well. I also asked whether an in-person pickup would be available since the ceremony was organised by the city where I live. It's Friday evening now. No response from IRCC thus far.
What's worse, he PASSED AWAY the day before yesterday after his condition deteriorated quickly.
I emailed IRCC once again to keep them informed, but no avail so far.
I even contacted an MP yesterday. They said they would contact IRCC regarding the issue but no news since then.
Without a citizenship certificate, there's no way to apply for a passport. I feel absolutely helpless.
Time is pressing, but there's nothing I can do about this emergency.
Extremely SAD!!!
