Re-medical result was sent on January 5, 2010 to CHC Landon. Hope to get some idea we are in KSA need to give note to employer in advance to get passport and even final settlement will take more then 2 month. our worries is Iqama (residency permit will expire in the end of the Month March 2010. Is it possible to finish the stamping process within the next 60 days or before end of the March ? We need to windup every thing from KSA and it in not so easy. Please guide us for safe side to renew the Iqama (Residency Permit) or wait till the end of the February 2010?
Thanks

hmi,
I am from KSA too, in Riyadh. Renewal of iqama takes only a day to finish, and you can renew it anytime before the expiration date. The general safe rule is: no visa on passport, no resignation from current job. Renewal of iqama for me is not the issue here. The main concern is the timing of the renewal of your contract, if you are having a definite contract, meaning you are renewing and signing a new contract every end of its terms. And the labor law in KSA says, employees should give employers at least a month notice if there is a plan not to renew the contract. Now, if timing will be bad, i.e, you receive your visa after you have renewed your contract, you still can resign from your job, provided you would still give your employer a one month notice. But in this case, you might not get your indemnity(service award) full if your stay in that company is less than 10 years. You will receive two-thirds of your indemnity if you have worked in your employer for 5 years. One-third if three years, and you will receive nothing if your stay in the company is less than 2 years. This rule applies to those who will resign from their job before the end of their contract. A different rule applies to those who decides to leave the company after finishing their contract. That is, 2.5 months indemnity for the first 5 years and a month salary for every year thereafter. If you have stayed in that company for more than 10 years, you can resign anytime, you have nothing to loose, provided you should inform your employer at least a month bofore leaving, for them to find for your replacement.
Not so many people including employers knew about this rule. And many employers are not following this, or shall I say do not like to follow this.
A friend from Al Khobar, got his PPR 45 days after his meds. And received his stamped passport 3 weeks after that.He is under the new rules. My suggestion, do not resign not until you have the PR visa in your passport. Try to sit down with your employer and discuss with him possible scenarios, if in case you will resign after the renewal of your contract just in case you receive your visa after you have renewed your contract with your employer. From that conversation, I guess you can get a brighter picture for your planning.
