Hi,
Just got am email for a request for documents.
1. Being Marriage certificate. I sent an original thinking it wouldn't matter if it wasn't a copy. Would this matter?? Does anybody have a picture of an Ontario Marriage Certificate as I'm hoping we've got the right one. We did the normal request online for it and all it pretty much is is our Marriage licence with all parts filled in, Photocopied onto a certified true print of a record.

2. Being Personal History for IMM 5669. Instead of going from the exactly 10 years. I went from when I started the job back in 1999.
They've asked from 2004 -12. Even though It wouldn't make any difference as I was doing the same thing in the time period. Would they be that picky in doing this??!

So shattered.

i don't understand. the question requires you to list every activity you did for the past 10 years, or since the age of 18, at the time of the application. That doesn't mean you only put what you did 10 years ago. Information needs to be provided for every year during that time.

What exactly did you list in your personal history for 2004-2012? did you provide any information at all for those years? even if you were doing the same thing during those years, you have to put that information in your application. you can't just omit dates because you are doing the same thing year after year. If the activity was for multiple years, then it needs to be labeled as such.

Sorry, was for Address. Question 12.
There's a gap between 2004 12 and 2005 03 because I was backpacking/travelling??! This shouldn't matter??

yes it certainly does matter, especially if you were travelling out of your country. you need to specifically state what you were doing during that time and where you were. if you were backpacking and traveling then you list the dates and say you were backpacking and travelling and specifiy the locations. there needs to be NO gaps in dates. backpacking and travelling are an activity. it's not like you feel off the face of the earth and did nothing during that time. even if you were doing nothing, you have to actually state - i was doing nothing during this time and this is where i was.

Gaps shouldn't entirely matter for Address's? What if you were homeless?! If the cross-reference my personal History they would see what I was doing in that time?

if you were homeless, then you say you were homeless. if you are that arrogant to belive cic doesn't need to know where you were and what you were doing during the past 10 years when they specifically ask for it, then good luck with your application! it will be a long long long road that will probably lead to disappointment.

They've just stated what I wrote on the extra sheet. I'm pretty sure I did gaps on the application IMM 5669 for address as well.
Do I have to send the whole IMM5669 or just what they specified in that extra sheet?
Frustrating part is that they don't warn you about the time gaps, only in Question 8.
Or to state that you didn't have an address at the time.

Cheers rhcohen for replying mate. My stress levels have just gone through the roof!

Schedule A: A separate and newly completed Schedule A Background Declaration form (IMM 5669) Question 12 there is a gap between 2004-12 to 2005-03. This must be received at this office by: 2014/09/04

That is what the sent me.
So I'll just send a revised extra sheet and just put backpacking Britain for that time period?

so it sounds like they are telling you they need you to fill out a new form entirely. they are giving you the hint of the information that is specifically missing that they need, so you remember to include it this time and they don't have to ask you again. if you did not have a residence during the time gap, then just say xx-xx, traveling/backpacking, and put where you were. make it clear you did not have a permanent address during that time.

Do you know anything about the marriage certificate? What we got was just the filled out Marriage Licence photocopied onto a government stamped, certified print of record? Doesn't say Marriage Certificate anywhere on it which is strange?

it's different for each country, so i can't help with that. mine is from the us and says both certificate and license on it. The certificate is the proof it's been registered with the municipality. A license is usually given before the marriage happens, and is more like permission to get married in that location.

in canada there are 2 types of certificates, a long form and a short form. i believe the long form is the one CIC specifically wants, though i'm not 100% about that.

Yeah we got the long form Ontario one but It doesn't seem right to me.
We did the normal online application for Marriage certificate in Ontario. We did do it before the 6-8 weeks it recommends for the the marriage to be registered but also said won't do the application until it's registered. We waited 12 weeks and we got something that may be a dud.
There is an emergency service to get a new one but not sure if we qualify for it. We do have an email from CIC asking for it within 30 days though.

yes, if you maintained a permanent address (say with family), i would think you would put that address. your activity would be traveling.
