renewing PR card in US?

My PR card will expire in August and I'm currently living in US. To renew my PR card, do I have to go back to where I live in Canada to mail my application for a renewal? Or can I simply mail my application from here in the USA?

You have mail it in Canada and then when it is ready you have to pick it up at a local CIC.

How long will CIC keep the PR card at their office, waiting for the PR to pick it up?

They will send you a letter giving you an appointment to come and pick it up. I am not entirely sure what happens if you miss the appointment.
