Renewal of Visa

Hello,
I am an international student in Canada. I renewed my study permit 3 months ago but I did not renew my Visa at that time. Yesterday, I applied online to renew my visa application. I just want to know that, do i need to send my passport via mail now or later on after receiving any notification?
