Renewal of RAMQ Health Insurance in Quebec

Hi,

I was a student in Quebec and upon graduation, I got a PGWP and was working in Quebec. At that time I got my RAMQ for the duration of my PGWP.

In the meantime, I applied for PR through the Federal Express Entry Program. I applied with Ontario as my province of landing since I intend to move there given all my family there. I have received my PR; received COPR and completed landing procedures successfully.

I had a SIN number whilst I was on my PGWork Permit. But now I have renewed it. The RAMQ Insurance I already had is still valid until the end of my work permit.

Even though I intend to move out of Quebec soon; at the moment I am staying in Quebec.

- Should I inform the change of my SIN to RAMQ insurance and get it renewed?
- Will there be complications when renewing my RAMQ card with my PR Information?

I know there are threads that state that as long as the "Province of landing" is not Quebec we can get the RAMQ without issues with the CoPR. But my case is different in that I already have a RAMQ from my WorkPermit and want to update it.

Has someone been through a similar situation?

I am in a similar situation to you but I recieved my COPR online via email due to COVID-19. Can I apply for RAMQ with my COPR alone? I'd really appreciate any help.

Hi preetav I am soo sorry for the delayed response. I havent checked the forums in a long time. I actually applied for RAMQ and was asked to give consent to RAMQ to access my file with IRCC. I signed it and sent it back to them but have not heard anything back from them. They said they will call me next week. I hope everything will be alright.

Strange. So you are still waiting for it. I got mine in one month after sending consent.

Yeah I am not sure why. I decided to give them a call to follow up on that. Lets see what will they ask for when they call me back next week. I hope they dont give me any trouble because I cant move to Toronto right now with the pandemic and everything Again I am sorry for getting back to you this late

No issues. All the bests. As per my understanding once you are PR, you have all rights to avail medical facilities of any province in which you are living and paying tax.
