Could someone please help with this question:

Q1: Does the New Residency Requirement (Six months of every year) which applies to be qualified for Citizenship application, also apply to the renewal of PR card? I understand that To maintain your status as a permanent resident, there are few requirements you must fulfill. One requirement is the residency obligation. You must live in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period. But what if I was out of Canada for more than 6 months every year during those 2 years ?
Q2: Can I enter Canada using my valid PR even if I was out of Canada for more than 6 months ? or does the Immigration Officer have the right to question or stop me from entering?

Thank you

1. No, for PR maintenance you need to reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period. You could be out of Canada for 3 years, in a row, as long as you resided in Canada for 2 years either before or after the those 3 years, 6 months doesn't enter into it.
2. If you haven't met your residency obligations, the IO has the right to examine you and report you on entry. If reported, you would be allowed to enter Canada and must appeal within 30 days, or the removal order issued at the time of the report becomes effective.
