Renewal of PR Card

My PR card is due for renewal. I have lived in Canada for the past 5 years. I have not worked during past 5 years, therefore I did not file my tax return. Can I apply for a renewal of my PR card and what are the other documents I can use to prove my residency?

You can use bills that u probably paid while living in Canada.

A friend of mine you lived in Canada for 5-6 months each year ( as days count and for last three years) as he working remotely for US company, so he never applied health card, filed taxes. What are chance for his renew PR card at the end of 5 years. Any suggestions.
