So my card has expired since 15 July 2015, and my application for renewal has already been made. This was probably a bad move as I'm currently residing outside Canada with unmet residency obligations as I resided in canada from November 2011 to September 2013, barely meeting the 2 years requirement.
I had to leave to complete my national service of 2 years in Singapore and have applied for a PR card renewal in December 2015, receiving a reply only in March 2016 to complete and send the "Determination of Permanent Resident Status" questionnaire by 1 April 2016. The letter was received by a friend residing in Canada and faxed to me as soon as he received it.
Unfortunately, postal services screwed up and he received the mail on 26 April 2016 (which I have proof of), and the letter states that the completed questionnaire and required documents are to be mailed and received by 1 April 2016, which is long overdue. This risks my case for renewal to be "abandoned".
I plan to return to Canada for my university education starting in August 2016, earlier if CIC requires me to, but I would like to have some insight or better, advice on how to proceed with this situation. I have the questionnaire and required documents (proof of military service and certificate of completion) ready for submission, I'm very anxious on how this situation will play out and my plans for uni might be greatly affected. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
