Hullo!

My husband and I are here on a work permit sponsored by his company (I have an open permit but am not working). Our son is on a regular visa. My husband's permit and TRV is till July 2014, but since my passport is valid till Feb 2013 both my son and i have a TRV till Jan 2013 (although his passport is valid till 2016). I need advise on:

1. Can i renew my passport now in March/April or is it only 6 months in advance of expiration date.
2. How do I extend my sons and my TRV while still staying in Canada, do i need to travel out for that.
3. Since my husband has a work permit and TRV valid till July 2014, can I have only my TRV extended or do I need to extended my work permit as well.

Please help

1. Extend your passports, check with your country of citizenship.
2. Apply to one of the Canadian offices in the US for new TRVs (You really don't need them if you are not traveling) If you are traveling apply for multiple entry. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/visas/forms_temporary_resident_temporaire_formulaires.aspx?lang=eng&view=d Enclose a copy of your spouse's work permit.
3. Once you have your new passports, you apply to Vegreville to extend your work permit and your son's study permit.
3.

Thank you for the information. We have Indian passports and while the VFS website says can apply for renewal 1 year in advance, on the phone they said 6 months??

Also is it safe to send it by post to Buffalo..how long does it take if you go in person?

Should the work permit be renewed before the visa or vis-a-versa?

thank you
