Renew PR or wait for Citizenship Oath again?

Hi all, I applied for citizenship and was called for the virtual oath ceremony on Sep 18th but I was outside Canada trapped in other country because the airport there was closed so I had to decline the invitation and sent them an email explaining the reason, they asked me for sending them the flight tickets once I arrive back in Canada. I was able to arrive back in Canada on October 9th and sent the humanitarian and commercial tickets to show how I arrived into Canada as requested.

My question is: My PR Card expired on Dec 07, what can I do? should I apply for PR Card renewal or wait for the new virtual ceremony date? or contact Immigration again telling them that my PR Card is due and ask them if I should apply for renewal or wait for ceremony?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations !

Although your PR card might have expired, you’re still a PR. You only need the card if you’re travelling out. I don’t believe you need it as a part of the citizenship process. The most you will need would be the COPR. If you’re not travelling anytime soon and you’re going to be getting your oath and can apply for the Canadian passport then I don’t see why you need to spend the extra cost to renew the PR CARD.

I would apply if I were in your case because it is only 50 CAD, and with the kind of delays we are seeing, you never know when you might get to your oath.

Thanks for your comments, one question more: Can I apply for PR Card if I have another application in process (my citizenship pending the oath ceremony)?

yes, it probably shouldn't matter in your case. Although one is required to cut the PR card into pieces during the citizenship oath i believe but you can just cut the card which you have and the new one when it arrives.

This is what I think, but i am not 100%. Maybe somebody else can shed light on it too.
