Renew/extend visitor's visa for fiance

My fiance has been staying with me in Canada under visitor's visa, she is American and only has a US passport, I am a Canadian citizen. We have about over 1 month before her 6 months expire and are trying to figure out if we can fly to the US for a weekend, then come back, if that would reset her visitors Visa or if there is a other way we can let her stay longer like applying for an extension

Just apply for visitor record to extend stay rather than leave and possibly be denied entry for living in Canada.
