My child and I live in Seattle, USA. My child's Canadian passport is expiring in July 2020, and looking at this page (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/children/apply.html), there are two options for how to apply for a new passport.
1. apply by mail
2. take child to Canada and apply in person.
My first question is, if I take child to Canada (by driving across the border to Vancouver), and apply in person, how do I drive the child back with a cancelled passport? Will the border officers allow that?
My second question is, if I apply by mail, they require the original long form birth certificate. Is this is the 'Statement of Live Birth'?
