Hey folks,

My wife is a duel Syrian and Armenian citizen and we're currently in the process of sorting the paperwork out to submit.

Recently, IMM0008 has been updated, and the question to fill in where you request which visa office your application is processed at has been removed.

We want to apply using her Armenian passport, with her Syrian nationality secondary. She was born in Syria and lived there for a long time, but now lives and studies in Armenia. We want to ensure that her application is processed as Armenian (in Warsaw CIC), rather than in Beirut or Amman. Processing times in Warsaw are significantly shorter in Warsaw. I thought about writing a cover letter urging CIC to process it in Warsaw and her as Armenian. Would this be a good route to take? We just want to be able to live together again!

Thanks :)

Of course it won't hurt to ask them to process it as an Amenian, but at thr end of thr day the vo can choose whichever they want. Since u said she was born in Syria and has lived there for a long time they may be more inclined to choose there, but u can always ask and hope that they listen.

It won't hurt to ask, however, your visa office is selected based on your current location/resident. You should have resided in that country for at least 1 year.

Ah ha. She lives in Armenia, and has done for about five months now. She also lived there for six months in 2012 - she's not lived in Syria for almost three years now...!

I guess I could cite humanitarian and compassionate grounds? She doesn't get the best of treatments in Armenia, largely due to where she's from

Thanks :)

Even when that question was there, it was still entirely up to CIC where to send your application, and in many cases they sent apps to offices other than the one selected in that form.

No matter what you write on the application or what your reasons are, in the end CPC-Mississauaga will send the app where they want to. Hopefully they consider what you're asking and by all means you should state it and give your reasons, but there's no guarantee.
