Relationship poof statement - declaration of friends

Some of our common friends have made letters (to whom it may concern type) stating that they know us and that mine and my spouse relationship is authentic and true . Please don't tell us that they need to have this letter notarized because they have already send them to us!

I sent two letters and they were not notarized...my application was approved just fine. You don't have to notarize them!

I think it actually depends on your regional guideline, some VO ask for notarized, some don't....mine were not, and my PR has been approved... I think it also depends on your case - if that's the only thing you have, then notarized would probably be better. If you have plenty of other proofs, then maybe it's less important - but again - check the guideline...

I had both. Some people were able to come with me to the notorizer when I had to go. Others I just had write a letter talking about us.

Mine application is still in the big dark storage hole in Vegrivelle waiting to be opened, so couldnt tell you if it was OK for me...

We only notarized the documents that weren't in english and needed translation. Any personal letters (only one we had was from my mom as a character witness) or other proofs of relationship were not notarized. Our app flew through the process with no problems. This was for Asia region application so make sure to check country specific in your case.

my sister wrote a letter and had it notarized, but only because she works in a law firm. my parents, boyfriend's parents and one of our friends also wrote letters but they weren't notarized.

our visa office is Sydney and they stated that only documents being translated needed to be notarized and I beleive that to be the same with most VO's but don't quote me on that

you should be fine

Notarizing documents in my part of Europe is a common thing done even on simplest of them. It made sense to me when i asked because how else would the cic can verify that the doc is tru and perhaps i didn't write it. But i guess I wont do it anyway because these letter have been sent to me through post and from different countries. i assume cic can see the stamps on the envelopes
