Relationship Photographs

Hi all,

I have a significant amount of photos from our relationship. Do I need to write on the back of each photograph who the people are? For example wedding photos have lots of people in any given picture so its difficult to name everyone. Do they care if you dont describe who are in the pictures? Does everyone write on he back of these photos? The guide doesnt ask for this but if it helps to make a better application I can spend the time and write behind each one.

Also, is 150 pics from wedding, reception, honeymoon and prewedding too much?

For some of my trips, for example honeymoon I have very few shots of us together. Is it okay to submit solo shots at the same location and just tell them whether its me or my wife that took the pic?

To save on space and bulk of the application, I digitalized all of our photos by scanning them and complied them onto a word document page. I numbered the pages and provided a seperate document attached to the back of the photo pages that explained every photo in detail by page (usually three to four photos per page). I felt that what I wanted to say about some of the pictures would not fit on the back and I didn't want to squish it all in. I then bundled it all up nicely by providing a cover page that explained there were pages behind the picture pages that explained each photo.

With the original package, hubby and I included around 75-100 photos total (relationship, wedding, honeymoon, trips etc) but they took up less space in the envelope because we had printed them on a word document. We recently sent some supporting documents (car lease, updated apartment lease etc) and we also included another 75-100 photos in the word document form.

As for the solo shots, I did submit those. I'm usually the photo taking half of the couple so there are a few of us together but a lot of solo pictures of my hubby and I on trips we have taken together. I asked the same question when I was originally putting together my app and was told that CIC would not be interested in the solo shots, however I decided to include them any way as there are solo pictures of my husband and I in the same location (ie: I took a picture of him and then he took a picture of me on [insert beach here] or in front of [statue name here]). I did explain that I took the photo or that he was taking the photo.

Thanks for answering the question Mrs_Canuck. Looks like I will need to cut down on the photos. I printed all of mine on 4x6 already and have written on the back of the photographs. It's really time consuming work but I certainly think it's value added. We were in such locations where we couldn't get anyone to photograph us so we took pictures of one another at the same spot. This would help show that we were present at the same time.

did this too on a word document, had 2-4 pictures per page with some small text "honeymoon" etc. In my case i had about 35 pages, with text and images.

Hmmmm I was thinking to do about 35-40 photos total, but now that I have read this thread I would be happier with at least double that number. I was told to tape the photos to a regular size paper and write a description and names on the paper of what the photo is about. But if I am reading the ideas posted in this thread correctly, you printed the photos and then scanned them onto a paper and typed out the description on a separate piece of paper?

I only included roughly 24 photos from our actual wedding. We didn't have any other photos together. I landed Dec 19th. I don't think having copious amounts of photos is necessary. I think the value of the photos you choose is what counts. It is not quantity, but quality

I was thinking to print those 60 to have 90 hardcopies in total and tape them to a regular sized paper (8.5x11), and type a description of them underneath.

Anyone else do it like this?

Also think quality is best. Like others we scanned photos and used a word document. I think this was for the description of trips together. Timeline for the past three years, in a table format for description and a picture for each trip description. Yes, we only included about 10 pics. With caption for location and people in pics.

We are also uni masters students and applied common law. So we included grad photos together (6-7). Then we included 4 extra photos of us with our parents. In total approx 20 photos. No wedding pics. Just got aip inland on the 20th so no worries there.

You'd probably only fit 2 pics per page, so you'd have 45 pages just for pictures. That's way too much.

Don't bother printing the digital pics out. Simply put them straight into a Word document and type the descriptions below each picture. That way, you can make the pics smaller and fit more onto a page. Instead of having 60 pics on 30 pages, you can do it in 5-10 pages.
