If you send too many, the VO may think you are trying to bury them in pictures :)
Nothing is good enough eh? when u don't send enough they say u don't hv enough proof...when u send more, it's too much proof that they get suspicious! ***sigh*** :-\

Kids are a good way of showing the passing of time during your relationship. My wife has 2 children from her previous marriage so we included plenty of photos of myself with them from varying times over the last 3 years. The youngest was actually still in diapers on my first visit to Canada & has now started school! Thats rather an obvious change & good proof we'd been together for a significant amount of time.

This is also really great advice. I would like to know what is the perfect amount of pictures that I should send with out the VO thinking that I am burring them images of our relationship?

I personally think that you should pictures that defines your case...if u've had a relationship for a while...then the pcitures shld be from different time periods...if it was an arranged marriage...then pics of the actual rituals..
I sent only abt 30-40 pics..didn't count exactly..but made sure the pictures dipicts the story I was telling them..

Send a sensible selection, but let them know that you have lots of other images if they need them.

It is always a balancing act :)

My advice, but the date and the names of the people on the back of the
picture. Its something that I would not have thought of but some VO
want to know this info. So put it on to help advoid any delays.

ie. photos sent back - then date - then send to VO again.

I am sure that is detailed in the notes somewhere.

Date, time, what does the picture show, where was it taken, who the people are, what their relationship is to you, or to your partner.
It is also good to note who took the picture.

Many people load the images into a word document and add the descriptive text on the page.

Pictures are a good way of showing the PROGRESSION of your relationship over time as well as INTEGRATION into each other's lives and that your relationship is known to the PUBLIC (meaning your circles of family and friends). Think about those things when choosing pictures. It's pointless to send a picture of your spouse with his/her family unless you are in it too! Now submitting a picture of your spouse with YOUR family is a good picture and vice versa.

Remember that it is the culmination of proof that the VOs consider. Pictures themselves won't make or break you and there are no hard and fast rules. Here's a couple of points to keep in mind:

1. I want to show how long we've been together
2. I want to show that we have met each other's family
3. I want to show that we've done various things TOGETHER during our relationship (travelled, went to events, stayed home, celebrated birthdays & holidays, played sports, etc.)

Keeping these things in mind will help you sort through what you are going to submit. Do the best you can with what you have.

@rjessome - I totally agree.

We sent a total of 10 images from different stages in our relationship and just had my common law approved. We scanned photos and printed them (in colour), two per A4 page (like letter size), with a brief annotation under each... Something like, "November 2007: Our first dinner together at my parents house. Pictured from left to right are Jez's mother (insert full name), Jez's father (insert name), etc, etc"

You can send hundreds if it makes you feel better though I'm just letting you know you don't have to :)

Ps. We didn't receive any photos back.
