Dear All

Suppose i land in calgury via Toronto. Will i be issued SIN card in Toronto or in Calgury -- will this SIN card have my address information as well on it ?

How soon can i apply for AB health after landing in calgury and how long will it take me to get the card ?

Suppose i have to leave calgury for a job in toronto after 2 weeks, can I use the AB health card in Toronto ? i understand i will have to wait for 3 months for OHIP

Now I will have AB health and i would have applied for OHIP, but what about my place of permanent residence -- since this would be Toronto - should this be reflected on my SIN as well ?

Should i even apply for SIN card in calgury or just apply for Health card ? -- is this possible or do i need SIN card to apply for health card ?

After I get OHIP, i understand that my AB health card will be cancelled ?

I also understand that i have to stay for 6 months in the place whose card i utlize otherwise i can get billed for it

thanks

Once you apply your SIN in Toronto or any cities across Canada, you will get a SIN number and the card itself will be mail to the address you provided whether it is Toronto or Calgary. The SIN number can be use in anywhere in Canada, regardless you move from AB to ON. If don't intend to work in AB, then don't bother to apply SIN until you move to ON.

As for AB and ON health cards, you can refer to the comments by Leon in the other post:

If you land into Canada in Toronto, you have to wait 3 mths until you get health care in Ontario.
If you land into Canada in Calgary, you are covered by Alberta Health the day you land. (but you won't get your AHC card until you've completed the forms and submitted them and got your card in the mail). IF you by chance need medical attention the day you arrive for example, you have to pay for it yourself, then once you get your AHC card, you have to submit your claim to get your money back, showing proof that you landed in Alberta from another country, but didn't have an AHC card yet. It's a bit of a process and wait but if you need to see a doctor, at least you know you can get your money back in Alberta.

If you land in Toronto, then move to Alberta , you will have to wait 3 months in Alberta before getting coverage.
